- The DMIC project aims at creating a strong economic base with a globally competitive environment and state-of-the-art infrastructure to activate local commerce, enhance investments and attain sustainable development.
- It is proposed to develop this industrial corridor in a band on either side of the Western Dedicated rail Freight Corridor, covering parts of the States of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
- The development of the DMIC is in two phases. Six Investment Regions and six Industrial Areas have been identified to be taken up for development during the first phase. Out of this, 7 nodes have been taken up initially for development.
- DMIC Development Corporation Ltd. (DMICDC) has been incorporated in January 2008 to develop and implement the project. Consultancies have been awarded for preparation of the Perspective Plan for the overall DMIC region along with Development Plans and feasibility studies of the following:
- Pitampura-Dhar-Mhow Investment Region in Madhya Pradesh;
- Ahmedabad-Dholera Investment Region in Gujarat;
- Dadri-Noida- Ghaziabad Investment Region in Uttar Pradesh;
- Manesar-Bawal Investment Region in Haryana;
- Khushkhera-Bhiwadi-Neemrana Investment Region in Rajasthan
- Igatpuri-Nashik-Sinnar Investment Region; and
- Dighi Port Industrial Area in Maharashtra.
