• NAFED Ready to undertake Procurement of Oilseeds and Pulses In order to help the growers in getting remunerative prices for their produce, Government of India is announcing Minimum Support Price (MSP) for notified agricultural commodities every crop season.
• NAFED is the Central nodal agency for procurement of oilseeds and pulses at MSP under Price Support Scheme (PSS). The rates of notified Kharif oilseeds namely – Soybean, groundnut, sunflower seed, sesame seed, nigerseed and pulses – moong and urad are ruling much above their MSPs. However, NAFED is in readiness to undertake procurement of these commodities at MSP if the prices tend to fall below their MSPs.
• NAFED is also Central Government's agency for import of edible oils and pulses to supplement the availability in the country as also to check spiralling prices. NAFED is also supplying edible oils and yellow peas to State Governments like West Bengal, Orissa and Mizoram etc. for distribution under PDS.
