Bombay HC allows Lavasa to continue construction

• The Bombay High Court has allowed the Lavasa Corporation to continue with their construction of the proposed hill station in Pune district. Staying the order of the Environment Ministry asking Lavasa to stop work, the division bench of Justices D K Deshmukh and N D Deshpande today directed the ministry to give the Lavasa Corporation a chance to state their case.
• Calling the ministry's decision to stay the work at Lavasa as drastic, the court asked the ministry why was the stop-work notice issued last month when the work at Lavasa project had started in 2004.
