Information Commissioner Satyananda Mishra will be the new chief of the Central Information Commission. He will replace the present Chief Information Commissioner, CIC, A N Tiwari whose term expires on Sunday.
Official sources said in New Delhi on Tuesday, the decision to appoint 61-year old Mishra who was former Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training, was taken at a meeting of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj and Law Minister Veerappa Moily.
Mr. Mishra, a former IAS officer of 1973 batch of Madhya Pradesh cadre, is likely to take charge on 20th of this month. A formal notification in this regard is, however, awaited.
